You do eat with this diet. The idea is that drinking the water will help you to lose weight.

Hi Nicole,

From now to the end of June gives you enough time to make a difference in your weight. I find a low-calorie diet works best for me and helps me drop weight quickly at the start and steadily from then on. How many calories you should it will depend on how tall you are, but the lowest you should go will be about 1200 calories. Add some exercise to this and it will speed up your weight loss. Here are a few options:

Check them out and let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Lauren,

The key to losing weight is to burn more calories than you eat. So if you drink water instead of snacking it should help you lose weight. However, some people tend to eat more at meals when they haven't had a snack, because mentally they think they can. The idea is to eat less, at all your meals. To accomplish this, don't have seconds, and of course take reasonable portions. Then eat them slowly. Take time to chew your food and sip water between bites. Try this and let me know how it goes.

Me and my mum have been doing the water diet, but I feel I've put more weight on.

Hi Cookkie,

The water diet just adds drinking cold water to your sensible diet to help burn a few more calories. It doesn't stipulate a specific diet.

Hi Thiru,

This is a debated issue. Some believe that drinking chilled water will help you burn extra weight because the body must expend energy to warm it. Others say that room temperature water is best to drink. In reality, it doesn't make that much difference either way, so I suggest drinking your water the way you like it.

Hi Nevine,

I've never heard that. In fact, I've heard cold water burns more calories because your body has to work to warm it.

Hi, I Heard that drinking a cup of boiled water in the morning before breakfast helps disolve the body fat. What do you think?

Hi Kai Li,

The reason for metabolism slow down often deals with not feeding your body enough calories. In response to too few calories, your body's metabolism kicks into survival mode and slows down to conserve energy since it isn't receiving enough energy through calories. The key to reviving your metabolism is to eat sufficient calories, try not to skip meals--not even breakfast. Also be sure to exercise and drink your water. The following articles will give you more information:

You can always ask your doctor for more information.

Hi Ifsa,

I'm so glad to hear your overcame anorexia. It is one of the most common types of eating disorder among teens. However, there are other food-related disorders including:

  • binge eating
  • body image disorders
  • food phobias

The binge eating disorder is similar to anorexia and bulimia because a person binges regularly on food (more than three times a week). But, unlike the other eating disorders, a person with binge eating disorder does not try to "compensate" by purging.

Anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating are related in that they establish unhealthy eating patterns. All of these start out benign enough but before you know it the person suffering from the disorder feels unable to control them. I don't know if your eating patterns reflect binging. This means binging regularly on food (more than 3 times a week). An individual with binge eating disorder does not try to "compensate" for their over eating by purging the food.

If you think you may have an eating disorder talk to your parents. If you don't feel like you can talk to them, find a teacher, doctor or adult you trust to get help.

If you don't have an eating disorder, the ideal thing to do is eat healthy. Don't fall for fad diets. They don't work in the long run. For starts, eliminate or restrict these foods for your diet:

  • fried foods
  • Sugary foods
  • High fat foods
  • Processed foods

Be sure to drink plenty of water and get regular exercise. It's a good idea to check with your family doctor for suggestions because he knows your medical background.

I hope this helps ifsa, if you need more information, please feel free to contact me here again and LoveToKnow Diet.

I can't stand up for myself because kids in my school will just embarrass me. All I want in my life is to be skinny> I have tried the water diet before, but I didn't lose the weight. I gained it. Hi Tabitha,

There's no better time to lose weight than when you are motivated, and you sound motivated. However, you are young and growing and your body needs the necessary nutrients to stay healthy. If you stop eating, your metabolism will slow down and make it even harder to lose weight, so that is not the answer.

It would be a good idea to check with your doctor and see what diet he recommends. You might also try a program like Weight Watchers that provides group support to help you stay on your diet and help you see that you are a beautiful person.

You'll want to cut out junk food, sugary foods and drinks, and replace them with fresh fruits and plenty of water. Choosing the right foods lets you lose weight without going hungry. And the key is to burn more calories than you take in.
