Hey Meateater,

This is just explaining why people become Vegetarians and to help people get started. It also gives some great ideas about recipes . No one is telling you that you cannot eat meat, and must adopt this way of life. It was your choice to come on this page in the first place, I don't understand why you have to make comments against people who choose to live this way.

Meateater, Just wanted to point out that every human culture on earth also has a long history of warfare. If eating meat is the criteria to belong to our "one race," then I for one am happy to welcome in wolves, bears, lions, and all the rest of our carnivorous compartriots into our happy little family. If you're really that concerned with finding ways to link humanity, how about, oh I don't know, language? Music? (FYI, chimpanzees have warring and hunting cultures too).

Hi Meateater,

You must realize that not everyone who chooses to eat vegetarian do it for the same reason. Some do it for ethical or religious reasons, others do it for health reason. Some argue that people were vegetarian before they were meat eaters. To become one, we need to learn to embrace those difference.

people..eating meat is our common point since ancestral days. Don't take me wrong but meat is a culture point everyone in the world shares. Without it we will never be connected to call ourselves "one race". Think about. Vegetarianism is just another thought up "rebellion" viewpoint by hippies. yes animals feel pain but lemme tell you that we feel pain too. If animals can attack us and kill us why don't we do the same? its a dog eat dog world out there. Yes animal cruelty is wrong, but eating meat isn't. Battery chickens wrong. Organic chickens, tasty and a good thing.

Hi Kayla,

Thanks for sharing your experience with us here at LoveToKnow Diet. In a recent study, eating habits of people were compared before and after they changed to vegetarian diets. In general, they consumed about 200 calories less per day. Even for those who didn't lose weight their bodies were leaner and they showed reductions in their waist and hip measurements.

I have recently chosen to lead a vegetarian lifestyle, and I feel great. I chose to do so for many different reasons. I have always been a big animal rights activist so that was one of the main reasons. I did not suspect that I would lose weight, but I did end up losing about 12 pounds in a month, and my waist size has gone down about 2 sizes. Overall, I feel great about my decision to go vegetarian, and encourage anyone who has thought about it at one time or another to do the same and go all the way with it!
