Hi Ann,

Whole tomatoes are not recommended. You want to avoid the skin and seeds. However, after removing the skin and seeds, some people blend it. That might work. Just try a little to see how it goes.

Hi Jeff,

Normally a healthy colon receives 10 percent-35 percent of the total cardiac blood flow output. If this flow drops more than 50 percent or so, ischemia develops. Stress can be a factor. A low residue diet is designed to reduce the regularity and volume of stools while prolonging intestinal transit time and giving your intestines a rest. With a chronic condition like this, it is best to follow your doctor's recommendations because he is aware of your medical history.

I have ischemic colitis and some diverticular problems. My doctor suggested a low residue diet. Has this type of diet been successfull in helping with this problem. I am going through a lot of stress in my life. Recently my dad passed away, and my mother will be going in for surgery. I am an only child, and I think my stress is making matters worse. I would love to hear from someone.

Thank you, Geoffrey Christopher
