im 15 also and 5'5" and 128 pounds... how much weight will i lose in a month if i eat 1200 calories a day? i want to get down to 110 - 115

Hi Sienna,

That is the struggle many people experience when dieting. Some things that work for others include:

  • Keeping a food diary - write down everything you eat and track your calories.
  • Find an accountability partner or group. This includes groups like Weight Watchers and TOPS.
  • Make a plan for when you'll be in those unhealthy settings. Bring a healthy snack with you or even offer to bring something if it is a party setting. That way you're covered.

I'm 15 years old and I try eating less and more healthy. The more I do this the more I feel good about myself, but when people eat unhealthy around me I crash and eat some of the unhealthy food. The problem is that my diet lasts up to three days then I ruin it. I try another day and start over.

How do i control myself to stay on my healthy diet?

Hi Melanie,

A healthy weight for someone your height and age can range from 104-137 pounds. Bone structure plays a part in our weight, too. I ran your numbers through a Recommended Daily Calorie Intake Calculator and if you are moderately active, you should be able to eat a little more than 2,000 calories a day to maintain 105 pounds. However, if you've starved yourself in the past, your metabolism is most likely running in survival mode to because it doesn't know when you'll eat again.

I recommend you talk with you doctor about a plan to get your metabolism boosted and your diet on track. Let me know if you have more questions.

Well i am 18 years old. 5"2.

  • I maintain 105 pounds at 400 calories a day
  • I maintain 130 pounds at 1000 calories a day
  • I maintain 135 pounds at 1200 calories a day

Is this abnormal? I am a worthless fatass. Maybe that's why I am bulimic.

Hi Jinan,

Your ideal weight for your age is about 57 kgs. Cutting back on unhealthy snacks and sugary drinks will help you to drop excess weight. Add regular exercise to your day and avoid eating seconds helpings, too, or you can count calories. Good luck with your weight loss.
