Hi Rachel,
I wish I could just say yes or no, but every body is different. Some peoples skin is more elastic than others and will go back to pre-children firmness with out a problem, while others can never attain that look without a tummy tuck. A tummy tuck however leaves a scar, so things are still not exactly what they were.

-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladEven if I lose the belly fat will the skin on my stomach firm up? My doctor said it wont, but I'd be thrilled to know otherwise. If this is not true do you have any tips to help me get the skin firm like it was before I had children?

Prevention magazine offers the Flat Belly Diet. The key is to get rid of body fat. You sound like you might be an apple shape, one who gains around the middle more than in the hips and legs. To accomplish this you'll need to burn more calories than you take in, and unfortunately, the older we get the less calories we seem to need. Watch your portions, check how much a serving size really is on the label and avoid unhealthy snacking. Along with this, be sure to get out and go for a walk for about 30 minutes at least 5 days a week. That should help to shrink that apron of fat and let you get back to that size 10. Good luck!

Belly fat can be a stubborn problem. The trick to losing it is to take in less calories than you burn. Regular exercise is great, but not controlling what you eat only defeats all that work. Believe me, I know. How much rice are you eating with your curry? In general, rice is about 200 calories per cup. If you eat two cups with one meal that's 400 calories right there. Eggs run around 70 calories each, any oil added to the cooking will add calories and what meat you eat will make a slight difference. If you're looking for a diet plan to follow, check out Prevention Magazine's Flat Belly Diet.
Here are a few articles to give you more information:

Tummy tucks are considered elective surgery and aren't covered by many insurance plans. I understand your frustration. Some people's skin is more elastic than others. Those whose skin is not elastic often suffer from what you're experiencing. Once you've lost body fat, if your belly hangs, the only option is plastic surgery.
With that said, I want to point out that your boyfriend seems to love you as you are. He cares about you and doesn't want you to have the surgery. So while you're feeling bad about how you look, realize that he loves you the way you are. Perhaps if you can't afford to get a tummy tuck, you could work on improving your self esteem.

Some families have a genetic predisposition what is known as "mother's apron". In this case, no matter how thin or small, if you've had kids or not, women in the family have this unnatural amount of flesh that hangs from the lower abdomen. If you didn't have this before your c-section, that is not the case for you. However, this hanging belly may or may not go away even with diet or exercise. It depends on a number of factors including your skin's elasticity. Not everyone is the same. This hanging skin is not necessarily belly fat as much as it is loose skin that needs to be toned. This may or may not be possible. Talk things over with your doctor and see what he recommends. You may be a candidate for a tummy tuck which is not so much for removing belly fat as it is to eliminate loose or wrinkly skin resulting from ageing, pregnancy, or marked weight loss.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi, I have a hanging belly and I have been exercising regularly as well as dieting. I was told that after 2 c-sections I will always have a hanging belly. Is this true?
-- Contributed by: LinHi Maggie,
Fat is stored on the lower tummy for a number of reasons. Sometimes, it's genetic. It can even be indigestion causing a bulge when food doesn't digest properly. (Irritable bowel syndrome is a common cause) But most often exercise can tone the area and remedy the problem. Check with your doctor to be sure.
If you're ready to try targeting those muscles, you can try the following exercises which are designed to flatten your stomach:
- Bicycle Maneuver
- Captain's Chair
- Crunch on Exercise Ball
- Vertical Leg Crunch
- Reverse Crunch
This article is wrong to say that aerobic excercise is better than anaerobic. point blank
Yes you burn fat when you work out aerobically but you also decrease the size of you lungs and heart and straing them more, and you tell your body to continue to store fat.
When you work out anaerobically your body burns more fat after and builds a lot more muscle. Then your body says why do I need this fat if I don't use it? And burns it off. People who work out anaerobically have as much as 530% more HGH in their system.
Read Dr. Al Sears.
Sorry Maggie, you can't build muscle over fat. You can, however, replace fat with muscle if you do muscle-building exercises. Walking is a great start! You can also try adding some abdominal exercises or weight training.
