Hi Gaby,

I can totally relate. I've been struggling with my diet and haven't been exercising, so I'm joining the 21 Day Challenge which starts Monday. We have 21 days to establish new habits. Exercise is going to be one of mine. Come on and join us. Maybe it will help.

Hi Cassidee,

You'll want to follow a Healthy Diet for Teenagers which in reality isn't a diet but practicing the habit of making healthy choices in what you eat and adding regular exercise to your daily routine. Learn to snack on fruits, veggies and low fat/low sugar items. What your portions at meals, and you should drop your extra weight. Sometimes finding a walking buddy can help you stay on target. Good luck.

Hi Singh,

Your ideal weight range is 57 - 75 kgs. Choose healthy foods, eat less and add exercise to your daily routine and you'll see the excess weight come off.

Hi Alex,

There's plenty of information here at LoveToKnow, but it is up to you to make the changes necessary in your diet. Teenage boys need between 2,200 and 2,700 calories daily. If you eat more than you burn, you will gain weight. You might want to keep track of how many calories you are currently eating to see if that might be the problem. And if you make healthy choices and eat whole foods instead of junk food that will make a big difference. You won't feel as hungry because your body will be satisfied for longer. Hi Cielo,

Having a baby is a wonderful! But the extra weight following pregnancy can be discouraging. But don't be too impatient. Trying to lose weight too fast is not the best way to take it off. I don't know if you are nursing your baby or not, but breastfeeding helps to take of that "baby weight" because it uses about 1000 calories a day. Here are a few other suggestions to help you get back into shape:

  • Eat healthy foods - Stress nutrient-rich foods that are not calorically dense
  • Avoid greasy snack foods and high fat products like cheese and whole milk
  • Eat more fruits, grains, pastas and beans
  • When eating a salad, avoid too much dressing
  • Add physical activity to your daily routine. Take your baby for a walk everyday. Add some stretching exercises and you'll tone up even faster.
  • Drink more water and avoid soda and juice
