Hi Tina,
I've never read anything about counting grams of sugar. Remember that a low carb diet helps to control blood sugar because the foods you eat have a low GI.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI'm new to the low carb, net carb idea. Do you need to take the grams of sugar into account as well? I have to think that sugar can't be good for you either.
-- Contributed by: TinaHi Amy,
I think you're right. I come up with the same numbers! It might be worth contacting them. Who knows, maybe they'll give you a free supply.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladSo... question... Atkins Advantage bars. I have the chocolate peanut butter bar. It says only 2g of net carbs. But the nutrition label, if I've done my math right, shows that there should be 12g net carbs. Total carbs 22g, Fiber 10g, sugar 1g, sugar alcohols 0g. Am I missing something?
-- Contributed by: AmyHi gypsewmn,
To calculate net carbs, subtract the number of grams of fiber from the number of grams of carbohydrate. Here's the equation to follow: Total Carbs minus Fiber = Net Carbohydrate.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladThis is goo information about carbs. But the phrase "when you learn how to calculate net carbs you are simply subtracting", leaves me to believe there is something in addition to "simply subtracting". Appreciate what you've given so far.
-- Contributed by: gypsewmnHi Sideline,
If you visit my blog Losing Weight From a Writer's POV you'll find a carb counter that should help.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladThis is a good, clear, comprehensive explanation of what we out here should know to figure our 'carbs'. But, for this dummie, it doesn't quite go into enough detail so that, using the information it provides, he can come out the other end fairly confident that his figures are close to accurate, and that any planning bsased on them will be solid. Appreciate what you've given so far, though....! :-)
