Hi Luty,

When the article says to avoid "hot spices such as chili powder, cayenne, hot pepper flakes" this will include curry if it is spicy. As for cilantro and basil, they just add flavor. You may want to try them individually and see whether or not they bother you.

As for cold drinks, you are supposed to avoid milk, soda, alcohol, tea, coffee, carbonated beverages...that doesn't leave much in the line of cold drinks I'm afraid.

The info is very helpful, however I still have some questions. For example: can I use spices like curry, cilantro, basil? Cold beverages?

Hi Laurel,

Sorry to say, but cranberry juice should be avoided by those who suffer with GERD.

Is it ok to drink cranberry juice?

It is my understanding that gatorade is ok in small amounts. Don't chug a whole bottle or you may experience problems. Your best bet is to ask your doctor.
