Hi Katie,
Anorexia is not the answer. It's not a diet, but a disorder that can kill you. Instead, you can go on a low calorie diet and be in shape in time for summer. However, that does not mean a starvation diet. Since you're only 14 and still growing, you should check with your doctor to see if he/she recommends something like a 1200 calorie or 1500 calorie diet.
Another thing that can really help is to make sure to fit exercise into your life like three to five days a week. Of course five days will help you reach your goal faster. You can do this! If you have questions, let me know.

I'm actually thinking about becoming Anorexic. I'm 14 years old, 5'5" and I'm between 150 and 155 pounds.
It annoys me to see all the girls at school who are as skinny as half my bone. I'm the kind of person that wants to fit in, but I'm tried of being the weight I am.
Even my family members are puny. I'm the fat one in my family, and I just want to be able to wear a two part swim suit and thin straps on my tank tops. That's all I really want right now, and I know I'm gonna get it.

You feel accomplished because anorexia is typically not about weight, but rather self-esteem and control. That makes you feel good, but at the expense of your future health. While you feel good mentally, you may be causing physical damage that can never be undone. Do me a favor and talk about it with someone who can help you.
-- Contributed by: Donna Sundbladi love being anorxic, I feel so accomplished when I lose a pound or two. everyone makes such a big deal about it! It's amazing! I've never felt better.

I'd suggest you talk to your doctor and explain how you're feeling. Ask him/her for advice on what you should do. Perhaps he can suggest diet guidelines to make you feel better about yourself. And if it is the beginning of an eating disorder creeping back into your life, they'll be able to catch it and get you on the right track.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI'm 15-years-old, and I weigh 138 lbs. I'm 5'4. They say that's a healthy weight, but I still seem to look FAT. I hate after I finish eating how fat I look. It's ridiculous. honestly. I had an eatting disorder when I was in 9th grade im in 10th nowI got help the first time but I feel fat and I dont know what to do.

If you are only eating 400 calories every other day, that is not healthy. You feeling of control by restricting food intake is a sign of an eating disorder and can cause long-term and even irreversible damage and even death. You can read more of the specifics at Anred.
Posting here is a way of reaching out for help, read over the info at Anred and let me know what you think.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladYea, I don't think I'm anorexic. I only skip meals every other day. So let's say, I eat one meal, 400 Calories on Sunday, ill skip Monday, and then tuesday I'll eat again. My mother thinks I'm gonna be anemic, but that's not gonna happen. And like Christina said; I too enjoy seeing my bones. It's natural. Seeing them gives me a sense of accomplishment. I've accomplished self control. So now my body doesnt tell me when it's hungry. I easily dictate that =]] Now, I Have so much extra free time on my hands, it's great!!! =]]

You may not realize it, but people who have eating disorders use food to deal with uncomfortable or painful emotions. Restricting food gives a sense of control. For those who overeat, it temporarily soothes them whether they are fighting sadness, anger, or loneliness. Purging is perceived to combat feelings of helplessness and self-loathing. I know at this time you don't want help, but I suggest you think about it, because over time, those with eating disorders lose the ability to see themselves objectively. Obsessions over food and weight eventually dominate everything else in life and that is not healthy.
All the symptoms are true, but there's something you don't understand about us, is that we enjoy it. we enjoy not eating and we enjoy people telling us how dangerous it is, i know ALL IT'S CONSEQUENCES and i'm still on my way for it, because simply it gives me a feeling of satisfaction, the bones when they show. I LOVE skinny bodies however i pretend it's disgusting so that i don't get jelous even though everyone i know thinks i'm skinny, i don't. and i don't want any recovery, it's amazing. it is kind of depressive, but once you find yourself recovering and feeling happy you go back to it because it's simply a pain that's pleasured to have. but there's one thing i HATE about it is that people think you're shallow, when you'd be the deepest thing on earth trust me. gotta go to the gym <3
-- Contributed by: ChristinaHi Ariel,
Those who are recovering from Anorexia or other eating disorders must find balance in their caloric intake throughout the day. This balance helps them to avoid the internal ups and downs that contribute to bad eating habits. The keys is to regularly bump up the number of calories and meals the person recovering eats, but it's important to note that excessive calories in a few large meals can lead to digestive problems.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI am doing a report in Biology about recovering Anorexic's and their diets. So if anyone could provide me with any information then please feel free to email me.
Thank You, Ariel
-- Contributed by: ArielSome states do have laws pertaining to eating disorders. However, these are laws aimed at insurance companies and their coverage.
It is best not to put personal information on the internet and unfortunately I cannot personally contact each person. If you can be more specific I can try to get a more specific answer to your question.
