Hi Beth,
A healthy diet is the most important. A colon cleanse can help the body detox and Acai berries are rich in antioxidants. While Acai tablets can be beneficial the fruit and Acai juice are better.

Eliminating soda from your diet will help you lose weight.
Donna

Dr. Oz's diet recommends you drink at least two glasses of water before every meal. This helps fill you cup faster and keeps you hydrated. You'll have to buy his book to get all the specifics.

You have not reached Dr. Oz, but left a comment on his this article about his diet. If you have a staff infection in your toe, you will need a doctor's care. Left untreated, it can lead to life-threatening results.

You might want to use tofu instead of fish, or just eat vegetarian using TVP or products like Quorn. In reality we don't need as much protein as we are led to believe. Mother's milk consists of 6% protein and baby grow big and strong. Plus there is protein in vegetables which many times is overlooked.
As for the fish, you could always take fish oil supplements to be sure you're getting those Omega 3s.
Donna
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi I was just wondering. I see that fish and stuff is really good for you, but I cant eat any sea food. I'm not a big fan, and I can't bring myself to liking it. So I was just wondering if there is something I could supplement the fish with. I'm not a real big meat eater either. I probably don't have enough protein in my diet, but if someone could let me know I would appreciate the advice. Thanks.

You are contacting LoveToKnow, not Dr. Oz. You can find more about what he says about the acai berry here.

-- Contributed by: Robert R. GadaHi Linda,
Are you sure he isn't just recommending the use of acai juice in the diet?
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladThe Acai diet doesn't go with the guidelines of the Dr. Oz diet, but yet he recommends Acai diet. Which one do I use?
-- Contributed by: Linda FreshourHi Robert,
In an interview with Dr. Oz he said, "There is no perfect vitamin combination from our perspective, but there are reputable brands that at least give you in the pills what they say they are giving you. Consumer Reports publishes lists of the reliability of vitamin companies, and is a good place to start." You can read the whole interview here.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI love the idea of just being healthier, and not having to diet. I'm actually going to see Dr. OZ live tomorrow, which is so cool. But i wonder if there are any vitamins in particular that are reccommended.

It's not easy to lose weight in the western culture. Most of our social events center around food, plus we are bombarded with adds for unhealthy foods that taste good. The key is to take in less calories than you burn if you want to lose weight. If you want to eat more calories it will require more activity. So you have a choice. Eat less calories and exercise less, or eat more and exercise more. Plus as we age, we require less calories!
To get started, the first thing you need to do is prepare yourself mentally. Choose a diet plan that fits your lifestyle. It might help to find a buddy to diet with you and maybe even walk together a few times a week.

They probably didn't mention diet because bile reflux because most health professionals don't think it can be controlled totally by dietary changes or lifestyle modification. Instead, bile reflux is most often managed with medication just like your doctor is doing. In severe cases they will recommend surgery.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI was just dx'd with bile reflux and stomach polyps. they gave me a rx for carafate but no other instructions. What should i do to be proactive about this and what sort of "diet" should I stick to
-- Contributed by: colleenHi Katie,
Note the last point in the article says: Take a multi-vitamin that includes 800 micrograms of folate, 400 international units of vitamin D, 1200 milligrams of calcium, 400 milligrams of magnesium, 2 grams of omega-3 fatty acids (if you do not consume the recommended three servings of fish each week). Other than that, I find no information as recommendations for replacing fish in the diet.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI hate fish of all kinds. What else can I do instead of eating fish 3 times a week?
-- Contributed by: Katie ClyburnHi Patricia,
According to the Mayo Clinic, bile reflux usually can't be controlled by changes in diet or lifestyle. Instead, is is usually managed with medication and in severe cases, with surgery. Note I use the word "managed" as neither solution is uniformly effective as a number of people continue to experience bile reflux even after treatment.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHow do you combat bile reflux?
-- Contributed by: patriciaHi Paula,
I'm not sure what your intestinal symptoms are, but it is best to visit your doctor and have a thorough check up to find out what the problem is. Diet related intestinal problems can result in things like:
- Bile reflux
- Celiac disease
- Lactose intolerance
- Whipple's disease
Once your doctor has pinned down the problem he will be able to help you develop a diet that can work for you.
Good morning
