Hi Missy,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your success. It's always good to hear from someone who is eating the diet to see what they have to say.
Donna
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi, I am now finishing my 7th week on the program, and have lost 11kgs! And to top it all off, I feel fantastic! Definately recommend this diet!!! I researched it for well over a year though-- I did not hastily throw my money away!
Most diets I have tried tend to make me lose weight in the areas I need it the least, but Cohens went straight for my big fat gut! haha
I am in Australia, by the way :) Hence the kgs.
I had 32 kgs to lose, now I am 11 kgs into it... Go me!!!
Oh and also, I am really loving the food, and it is teaching me to cook, and that you don't actually need all the sauces and preservatives to have a tasty meal... Once the results start, you just have no desire to go off the plan! And I have not been hungry!!!!!
As for, the afterlife (as in after the diet)... I know and understand that I cannot go back to maccas and KFC for dinner every other night, or meat pies and Chinese take away for lunch... those are once offs... and provided I live a balanced life (which fresh food, like Cohens promotes) and exercise (which I AM looking forward to) I will be able to maintain the NEW me. Everything in moderation!!! Plus, it's not like I can never taste chocolate cake again... so I am not fussed.
Thanks for reading.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's always good to hear from people who have tried a specific diet plan.
Donna
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladThe diet is excellent, and it works if followed!
-- Contributed by: KSHi Dietician,
There are many doctors who run weight loss centers and clinics for the obese. Rapid weight loss should be under a doctor's care. My personal opinion is the slow and steady route, but for some people they weigh so much that it is killing them. I guess then the rapid approach is best.
Donna
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi, As a clinical dietician it is difficult to understand that a doctor would recommend such drastic weight loss that would most probably cause hyperlipidemia, inflammatory reactions and hypotensive symptoms, to mention but a few. The website fails to explain the negative side-effects of rapid weight loss and the psychological effect if all that weight is gained back plus more.
-- Contributed by: DieticianHi Rene,
As the article says, "Once you reach your target weight, you are put into the "Re-feeding Program" which teaches you how to gradually re-introduce formerly forbidden foods back into your diet. This phase lasts approximately two to four weeks. Along with re-feeding, you are also given guidelines designed to teach you to live a healthy lifestyle without gaining back the weight you have lost." Other than that, you'll have to contact them directly for more information.
Donna
-- Contributed by: Donna Sundbladplease will you brief me on your refeeding program?
kind regards rene
-- Contributed by: RENEHi Christina,
I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean water weight?
Donna
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHello, I want to know what food on the diet keeps the water back, and can my monthly measteranc also keep it back.
-- Contributed by: christinaHi Petronella,
The first days of a diet are always the hardest and adjusting to smaller portion sizes is quite a shock when compared to the plates full of food we are used to. The weighing of portions is to help us learn a new healthier lifestyle and is part of retraining our eyes and stomach to understand what a healthy portion size is. I hope this helps. Good luck with your diet.
Donna
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHI I've just started on the diet (2 days ago) and find it very difficult to follow. The portions are very little and the time between meals too long. Hope to continue but don't know. What I want to know is what will happen if you don't weigh the portion exactly as indicated?
-- Contributed by: PetronellaHi Rosemary,
The fact that your looking for the diet to help you lose weight is the first step to reaching that goal. This particular diet will require blood work. For more information you can visit Dr. Cohen's website to get your specific questions answered and see if it really is the right weight loss plan for you.

It's so important for people to realize that their bodies change and as a result their nutritional needs change too. I followed your link and to me it sounds like you've found the structure you need. Keep us informed!
Donna
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi, I tried this diet a couple years ago. It worked well but I went on vacation and fell off the wagon. Now I'm back on it. I was a little curious about the personalized aspect of it too. Since I now have two different plans to look at, I can tell you that the two are different. My first plan was approximately half protein and half veggies. Since then, I've had a hysterectomy and some liver issues, so my blood should be a bit different. The new diet is not at all half and half, and I'm now allowed some foods I wasn't allowed before. So, I do believe it's personalized. I'll be keeping you posted on my results here: http://diet.lovetoknow.com/blogs/weight-loss-adventures/a-new-diet-a-new-start
-- Contributed by: Misty KaramHi Susan,
Congratulations! It's always good to get a report from someone who has tried the diet. Are you still following it now?
Dr Cohen really works and is great.
I tried all kinds of diets and programs and Dr Cohen was the only program that worked for me. I can assure you it is the best. I lost 8kg in my 1st month.
-- Contributed by: SusanHi Tepsi,
No matter what diet plan we choose, our mental motivation is key to the success. If we're not mentally prepared to stick to the plan, it is doomed to fail. For some people, having a personal trainer or consultant helps to keep them motivated. But if you're not mentally motivated in the first place, all the emails and phone calls can't ignite the damp spirit.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi,
I actually have not tried very hard, I veered off the track quickly. I'm just getting back to it though because my "personal consultant" sends me text messages and emails of encouragement fairly often and sometimes she calls to check how I am and when I'm gonna get back on track! I have to disagree about that element, but my consultant is of course in South Africa and maybe things are different here in the US of A.
-- Contributed by: TepsiHi Irma,
Appreciate your input from personal experience. It always helps to hear from someone who has tried it.
Thanks.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI'm on it and losing some weight ... but there seems to be a lot of "hype" behind all of it. It is basically the same diet for everyone with a few minor variations (amount varies but doesn't seem to be significant). It has all the vestiges of Sugar Busters or others that keep you from carbs of the refined nature ... along with most dairy. No eating after 9 p.m. and lots of water ... all helpful hints from many diets.
In addition, there is little contact with your "personal consultant" (who has no name!) and the doctor's messages related to the lab results sounds pretty much the same for everyone. So I'm not sure about the whole "personal" part of the diet. It's a lot of money for a very simple diet with everyone believing that "the doctor" is paying attention to their particular lab results. From what I've picked up on the forums (there are several) the responses from the consultants and from the doctor are pretty much the same.
If you need to pay money to stay on a diet, then go for it. But if you can pick up the Sugar Buster book and stick with it, you'll lose weight. Don't pay the $249 for this "impersonal" diet!

Glad you enjoyed the article and thanks for visiting LoveToKnow Diet.

-- Contributed by: HillyHi Wendy,
It's never a good idea to provide false information. There are plenty of good, healthy diets out there, and people can visit their doctors to help set weight loss goals and plans.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI am Australian but spend most of my time in USA. I too went to a clinic in Australia, but decided not to do it due to cost. Now I have just registered online and do not see any problem with anyone doing that except for perhaps the blood test. If need be, you could always make up a false US address??? Just a thought.
-- Contributed by: WendyHi Joy,
I don't know of an online resource for Dr. Cohen's diet, however some experts recommend Dr. Furhrman's site saying it is even more thorough.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi I wanted to know if we can purchase the diet over the net from Australia, I noticed my email didn't come out in the last request I sent for assistance, so here it is, if anyone can tell me that would be great as I don't feel like paying out another $680 like Gaye said, virtually for nothing except a piece of paper with a tiny diet on it. Don't get me wrong, it works and its great but totally over priced in Australia if going to a clinic, it really isn't necessary, the net will be fine. Thanks All....JOY joy@finer.com.au

-- Contributed by: Joy KingstonHi, I'm from Australia and there isnt a clinic close to me, can I purchase it over the net like the US does. I have done the program once, it was excellent, want to do it again as it made me feel excellent. I hope someone can let me know. Thanks joy
-- Contributed by: Joy KingstonHi Gaye,
I'm sorry that you have experienced this disappointment. My suggestion to you is now that you've paid the money, try the diet. They do offer full support for any diet-related issue while on the program, right? If you experience constipation the should be ready to provide free updates to your plan or at least offer advice to help you through. Don't let them have your money without shedding a pound. Channel that anger into determination and make it work for you.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI have just come across this diet on the net, and am horrified as about three weeks ago I paid $680 to a consultant, for 6 blood tests all together, not happy... as the online program costs $249. This is for a 12-week program and a further $179 for the next 12 weeks, costing for the same period only $428.. and the beauty of paying for only 3 months first off is that if you realize that you cant do it you haven't lost so much, making it worth while to try, I would have been very happy at that, and happy to recommend it to others.
When we got our diets I felt sick at how little we received for our money, it turned me right off and from reading some sites on the net we found out other things.. I am so angry now that I cant get interested in it.... She was lovely and talked about it with us, going through a process.. but we weren't measured at all, just weighed.. we could have just done it through the net at quarter of the price.. I have been telling people that it costs $680 and it is simply not worth it, and then I cam across you site...
There were a few things that we were not told, like the possibility of constipation and when I measured up what we could eat on the diet I knew that I would have to have something to make me have a bowel motion as I have had so many problems this way since I was nursing and used to take far too many hospital tablets to move my bowels. So a couple of days after we got the diet I emailed the consultant to see if I could get a large part of my money back minus the Dr's and her time, the cost of materials and the blood test, and as she was on a course for a few days she was not able to reply till she got home... but she said that she wouldn't refund the money as she had asked me at the time as to whether I wanted to go away and think about it, but I had said no, which is true she did ask, but it is not what I was told it to be, no that is not fair as she was very good at explaining things, but I feel that some things were left out.... But in future I will still warn others as I am so angry that I couldn't get a large portion of the $680 back, and I felt that we were not told every thing, she did go through a book but looking on the Cohens site we have found other things, like constipation which is also in the book we received after we had paid our money.. Gaye..
-- Contributed by: GayeThank you Glen, for sharing this resouce. I checked it out and it looks very helpful for those interested in Dr. Cohens diet plan. It also looks like a great support for those currently on the program.
