Hi shaheen,

There are as many "diabetic diets" and each dietary plan is complicated because the same food may be eaten by different people and produce different results in blood sugar levels. Research is on-going, as experts investigate different foods and their ability to raise glucose levels. It's best to check with your doctor as he will be familiar with your medical history.

While this is true, I think the writer was speaking about the ability of a person to perform basic care for themselves without needing a professional to monitor glucose levels, etc.

There are also many programs available to help those who do not have insurance that offer help paying for necessary meds and even transportation. Also, discuss your financial situation with your doctor. He can often give you advice so that you can get the medical help you need. Your local Department of Human Services office can also help you to find programs that you may be unaware of.

There is help out there to help those with serious health issues. It just isn't always easy to find.
