Hi Sam,

This is really a fad diet, but if you really want to do it for three days, you would need to substitute vegetarian protein for the meat/fish. The trick is that you would need to make the caloric value the same as the item you are replacing.

Does that make sense?

Hi Daphne,

Were you able to keep the weight off? That seems to be the challenge in the long run.

Hi Velma,

You are so right about keeping the weight off with lifestyle changes that continue after the "diet" is over. Appreciate your encouragement to others. Good luck on your weight loss, and be sure to stop back and let us know how it's going.

I first heard of this diet over 10 yrs ago. My family and I went on it, and were successful in losing 20 pounds at the beginning of the 3 week mark. Then I got pregnant, lost the diet, and have gained weight steadily (and unhealthily) since then. I found out today that I need repairative back surgery, but can have it done until I lose a large amount of weight. I got online hoping I could find this diet, again and here it is! I would like to mention that this diet is especially helpful to those who are considered "drive-thru maitre d's" b/c of the large volume of wasted empty calories that are consumed. When that is taken away, (by using the above diet) then your body is forced to lose weight due to the restriction on calories. I would also like to emphasize that most weight lost quickly is also REGAINED just as quick. Changing your eating habits is a life long process, not one dissolved after 3 day diets... Thanks again, for posting this diet!

Hi Chelsea,

This is a fad diet, and the reason most people lose when they follow it is that they are eating low calorie. The main thing you need to do is take in less calories than you burn, so the order shouldn't make a difference.

Hi Laquan,

They don't specify, so it must not matter.

Hi Dee-jay,

Whether or not you exercise will depend on how you feel. For many, the drastic drop in calorie intake may leave them feeling weak. If you find that's the case, just wait until you finish the diet. It's only three days.

I am on the 3day diet, I'm on the first day of the diet and I wanted to no if I can exercise while on this diet?

Hi M,

The fact that you kept the weight off for years is great. The thing is, that this diet is designed as a three day diet. You're ten years older now, too. It would probably be best to talk with your doctor before you follow it, if you plan to do it for longer than that.

I did this diet about 10 years ago. It really worked. I lost 47lbs. in five weeks and I felt great and I looked great.I kept it off for several year , eating sensibly. I only began to regain the weight after I resumed many of my unhealthy habits. Today I am starting this program again. I will keep you posted.

Hi Mitchell,

Much of the first weight loss is water weight. To lose fat you have to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound. Realistically, losing two pounds a week is a healthy way to go. When you change to a low calorie diet, you will probably lose more and faster on the front end of changing your eating.

Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for stopping by to let us know a similar diet worked for you. One thing many people tend to do is follow a diet like this for longer than three days and that is not really healthy.

After the holidays I was up to 264 pounds. In two weeks I have lost 15 pounds--down to 248 pounds. But you only lose the 10 lbs. in the first three day of the diet. In the second week I only lost 5 lbs. without exercise. It will help you lose more but it realy works.

my name is mitchell i use a simular 3 day diet and it realy works if you eat only what is on the list. and nothing else.

Hi Lady,

I can't tell you how this diet works based on personal experience, because it is not one that I've tried. Many people who I've talked to that have enjoyed success have stayed on the diet much longer that 3 days. If the diet is cutting the amount of calories you normally take in, and you're adding exercise to your regime, you should lose. Let us know how it goes.

Wanted to know if this diet would really work and show results as soon as 3 days. I am really looking forward to loosing inches and toning up by going to the gym. I know that I'm starting right before the holidays but I just want to test it out first so that I can really get into it beginning of the New Year.

Hi Ms July,

I do wish you luck. How long did your friend follow this three day diet to lose that kind of weight, and how long do you plant to stay on it? You'll have to let us know how it goes.

-- Contributed by: Donna Sundblad

I plan on starting it on Monday with a co worker. She did it for 4 months and lost over 30 pounds. She told me it works, and showed me pictures and her results. I am excited to try it!!! Wish me luck

Hi Carine,

I hadn't heard that approach before, but it makes sense. Weight Watchers is a proven weight loss plan that encourages balance in your diet as well as portion control. Another benefit to follow Weight Watchers is that it can help teach you lifestyle changes that can help keep the weight off once you reach your goal.

Hi, I learned about this diet 5 yrs ago. I was told to do Weight Watchers on the 4 days off and build up to the maximum points (ex: 20-25, on Fri. do 20, Sat. do 21, Sun. do 25). The first time I did it I lost 20 lbs in 5 weeks. Went from 186 to 166. I only gained 5 lbs back and didn't diet for a year. Guess what! I was still stayed 166-170 that entire year. I only gained the 5 lbs back give or take. The next year I did it again for 3 weeks and lost another 13 lbs. Never gained it all back. For the next year I bounced from 146-155 but never back to the 166. Then I did it again about a year later and went from 143 to 127 in about a month or 2. (thats because I cheated some)...but then I got pregnant so I gained a lot (needless to say). Now I am doing it again. 3 weeks ago I was 168 and now I am about 150. I end up quitting after about a month because I hit my plateau and there's no more reward. I need to find a way to jump start the weight loss again because I don't want to quit and only do it for one month at a time anymore, I want to do it for 2 months and get double the weight loss (example: 40 lbs). But just to those doubting it, as long as you follow weight watchers or some diet that controls your eating on the 4 days off, it does work!!! I recommend weight watchers, because if its up to me, I have very little self control unless a diet is telling me what to eat or how much to eat.

Hi Tasha,

This diet can work as a springboard to healthy eating. It will help you lose weight quickly, but you don't want to follow it long term because it doesn't really teach you to change your eating. As a result people tend to gain their weight back once they go off the diet.

I did the 3 day diet and lost 7 pounds and plan to continue it. I have a conference and want to look nice.Best of luck...

Hi Zaid,

The best way to lose weight is slow and steady. If you cut your caloric intake and exercise, you will lose weight. I don't know how tall you are or your bone structure, but these links can give you more information to help you decide what is best for you. It's also a good idea to talk dietary changes over with your doctor.

I am always wanting to lose weight and I am deaf. Today I did fast Ramadan without exercise. I want to use a diet plan for quick weight loss.

Well I am going to try it because it will jump start my diet...

Hi Judy,

The problem is, the diet is only to last for three days. It is another fad. I'd suggest finding a healthy plan that lets you lose weight without being so hungry.

-- Contributed by: Donna Sundblad

I have tried it before, and it did take off 10 the first week, only 5 the second week. The third week I was just too hungry to continue and had to give up. I'm thinking of trying it again for just a month to get afew pounds off.

Hi SS,

Better to find out before you try it. While you look for the right diet for you, eat smaller portions, exercise regularly, and drink plenty of water. It will get you started on the right track.

-- Contributed by: Donna Sundblad

This diet was given to me about 7 years ago & thought I would finally give it a try b/c I didnt have to give it much thought in terms of preparation. A bummer to find out that its another fad diet...
