Hi Calorieduct,
You're right. Successful, long term weight loss takes time. Staying on a healthy diet will gradually melt the pounds off.

We don't recommend any one diet but if you're looking for some ideas, you may want to pop over to the Diet Forum where you can talk to others about their experience and suggestions.

-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHiya ,
I really want to lose weight quickly and have no idea of how too eat or start it. Could you please send me a diet plan through email? It would be much, much appreciated if you could.
Thanks so much.
-- Contributed by: shannenHi Denise,
To eat a 1600 calorie diet all you have to do is count calories in the foods you are eating. You can tailor it to fit your lifestyle. For example you can eat 300 calories breakfast, 400 calorie lunch 500 calories for dinner and have 400 calories for snacks. If you prefer more or less calories at a meal, you can tweak it so that it works for you. Hope that helps.

Hello, about 5 years ago I went on the Atkins diet and lost 90 lbs. I have 50 more to reach my goal weight of 150 lbs. For the last year and a half I have been dieting low carb style and exercising at least 3 - 4 times a week. But my weight doesn't budge. I'm very frustrated. Anyone have any advice?
-- Contributed by: Deborah RodriguezHi Von,
It can be so frustrating to do everything you're supposed to do without even a hint of a result. Here's my thoughts. In order to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume. As you can see from your results, that's not the case. Because you are limited in your exercise, I suggest dropping your calories to say 1,000-1,300 and see if that helps.
Also, you may want to look at getting an exercise ball. It's one form of exercise that may help you burn a few more calories and make you feel better.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI am writing everything I eat in a little book after a very disappointing first week on a diet that I KNOW I was good on and, with a range of 1000 - 1500 cals a day. I am not losing weight. I weigh 13 stone 6 and am getting very fed up. I have fibromyalgia and can not exercise enough to comment on and am 52 years old. HELP!

Most vegetables are low-carb, so that is a good basis for your diet. I've heard that the Zone Diet is recommended so you may want to look into that as well as some of the soy meat alternatives that are available on the market.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladHi I am an indian and pure vegeterian(no eggs)but can use dairy/milk products. Please suggest me some diet with low carb as i am suffering from PCOS.
-- Contributed by: sakshiHi Tammy,
Losing weight is not easy, and the older we get the harder it seems to lose. There are plenty of tips on how to lose weight but the key is that you have to be consistent. Counting calories and/or carbs both have been shown to work. You might want to speak with you doctor to see which he recommends for you individually.
I personally lean toward counting calories because it leaves more food options open. However, the very nature of junk food and sweets limits them because I don't want to spend all my calories in one place. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI am 50 and overweight and I would like to lose about 75 to 100 pounds. I have tried them all, now I am here for help. Can you help? And which way is best counting carbs or counting calories? Hopefully you can help with this, and send me on the right path.
-- Contributed by: TammyHi Giada,
It sounds like you're ready to take some positive steps to get your weight under control. It's a good idea to visit your doctor and get their recommendation as they are aware of your medical history. Take steps to eliminate junk food and sugary snacks and drinks from your diet. Eat smaller portions, avoid second helpings and skip dessert. And make sure to exercise. Go for a 30 minute walk or ride your bike. Good luck!

-- Contributed by: Diet GuRuHi Stephanie,
Feeding the family while moms diet can be a challenge. Low-carb diets are not healthy for children, but a lower carb 1600 calorie diet should work just fine. I'm not sure how fussy your kids are, but there's no time like the present to teach them healthy eating habits. Here's one sample menu:
Breakfast:
- Broccoli and cheese omelet
- Yogurt with blueberries and strawberries
Lunch:
- Cheeseburger with no bun
- Grapes
- Spinach
Dinner:
- Chicken curry
- Brown rice
- Green beans with carrots
Also keep healthy snacks on hand for them. Try not to stock things in your pantry that will tempt you to go off your diet. Subliminally, dieters sometimes use kids to have food in the house that is not allowed on their diet. This often ends up becoming a pitfall at a weak moment. As long as your husband is happy and you are happy, your kids will fall in step by watching your example.
-- Contributed by: Donna SundbladI know this works I am trying to get motivated to do it! I am having a hard time getting meals planned with two young children at home, Ages 3 and 1. Fortunately my husband will eat anything so that does help me but my motivation is low and I am searching for something to help me along. Maybe some kid friendly meal ideas. Thanks have a Blessed Day :)
