Weight Watchers FlexPoint Plan is an effective and sensible diet plan designed to help measure the food you eat. It is not riddled with a long list of "don'ts" and does not contain any forbidden foods, but allows you to vary your diet. By using the tools provided by Weight Watchers, eating healthy will become second nature.

How the Weight Watchers FlexPoint Plan Works

The FlexPoint plan assigns all foods a Points value based upon their caloric value and the amount of fiber and fat they contain. An allotment of daily Points is given based on factors such as age, height, weight, and activity level.

In addition to daily Points, you receive 35 FlexPoints for each week. These points can be use for that special occasion dinner, or the well-meaning friend who forgot you were on a diet and brought over brownies. You may not save up your FlexPoints; you start each week with 35 Points to use. If you want to increase the amount of weight you lose, do not use the FlexPoints.

Calculating Points

In order to experience success while using FlexPoints, you must stick to the daily target Points amount. Weight Watchers offers several tools for figuring out how many Points are in foods, as well as tools to keep track of your daily food intake.

Finding Points Values

  • Weight Watchers Pointsfinder-This simple and helpful tool allows you to calculate Points by sliding a card and making the numbers for calories, fat, and fiber line up to give you the correct amount Points. The Pointsfinder is issued to you in your Getting Started session.

Keeping Track of Points

  • Weight Watchers QuickTrak System-Weekly Points diary sheet issued weekly at meetings.
  • Weight Watchers Three Month Journal- Allows you to track your progress for 12 weeks. This helps to closely monitor progress.
  • Points Tracker-Available on Weight Watchers eTools for subscribers.

Weight Watchers is about success, there are tools available for every lifestyle and budget to achieve optimum weight loss results.

Tips For Success When Using the FlexPoints Plan

  • Adhere to the Points budget that you have been allotted
  • Keep track of the Points you eat
  • Practice portion control—eat only one serving
  • Divide foods into single serving portions ahead of time
  • Buy single serving packages
  • Keep Weight Watchers foods on hand for times that you are too busy to cook
  • Daily exercise
  • Drink at least six glasses of water every day
  • Follow Weight Watchers Good Health Guidelines
  • Weigh yourself weekly and track your losses

Weight Watchers FlexPoints Plan takes a realistic approach to weight loss. You will not drop 50 pounds in three weeks while you sleep. Of course, you could not achieve this on any other diet plan either.
