Losing Weight Realistically
Losing weight is a national obsession. Many of us truly need to lose weight, while others simply want to chase the dream of that model-thin body. How realistic is this dream? Instant weight loss is typically a fallacy…and it just isn't healthy, so no matter what the ads might promise, concentrate on eating right and exercising whether you enter into a Weight Watchers program or embark on the Suddenly Slim Diet.
Choosing a Diet
Once you start on a diet, you are basically changing your life…if you do it the right way. Many people believe that they can pop a pill (diet supplement) every day, eat the same fattening foods, refuse to exercise, and lose weight. While this might happen for a few people, it just doesn't work for the majority. Keep this in mind as you look for diet plans to try. Before you begin, consider the following:
- What is the basis of the diet? Does it involve only taking a supplement, or will you change the foods you eat?
- How much will it cost? Some diets are all inclusive, meaning you buy the prepared foods for each meal. These diets are very convenient, but they can be pricey.
- Do you attend meetings? For some, it's all about the camaraderie, but others don't enjoy spending a set amount of time sharing the battles of their weight loss war with others.
- What is the success rate? Is this a fly-by-night diet, or are there some genuine success stories?

Just what is the Suddenly Slim Diet? Suddenly Slim relies upon diet supplements and meal replacement shakes to change the body's metabolic makeup. This 10-day program claims to increase the metabolism rate and to burn calories. The replacement shakes and other diet products include Slim 'N Up, Reneu, and Body FX.
- Slim 'N Up-This is a herbal formula that claims to reduce hunger and increase energy levels.
- Body FX-The Body FX milkshakes are made up of a combination of nutrients that report an increase metabolic function.
- Reneu-These herbs claim to provide a self-cleansing and detoxification of the body.
The basic makeup of these products is a large amount of herbal supplements. This isn't anything new, as most diet pills contain herbal supplements. Some of these supplements may actually be good for you, providing healthy antioxidants, like green tea. However, other supplements can be dangerous, such as ephedra, which has been linked to raised heartbeats. Before you take any supplement, read the fine print, including the ingredients and do your homework. Find out about the side effects of these supplements and check with your doctor as well.
