Sensa Weight Loss

From LoveToKnow Diet

As with many weight loss programs, the Sensa weight loss system has its backers and its naysayers. This particular system claims to be as easy to use as sprinkling salt and pepper on your food because that is, in fact, how you use it – you sprinkle the Sensa "tastants" on what you eat.

How Sensa Is Different

There are diet books and programs designed for practically any health condition or trend. You can buy prepackaged meals if you want without having to count calories, or you can just eat a certain type of food. Sensa (also known as "the Sprinkle Diet") is different in that it doesn't restrict calories or what you can eat. It uses your body's natural impulses instead of working against them.

Unlike a program like NutriSystem, which provides users with food, you don't get a set number of pre-made meals with Sensa. Sensa consists of tastants – one type is salty and one type is sweet. You sprinkle them on your food to gain the full benefits of smell and taste working together. The minds behind this revolutionary product believe that being totally in tune with your senses of smell and taste allows you to enjoy what you're eating so that you feel full when you should, preventing the problem of overeating.

There is a lot of science behind how Sensa works, but in essence, it relies on your sense of smell triggering your brain to tell your body that it's full.

How the Sensa Weight Loss System Works

Your daily diet is not restricted when using Sensa, so you won't feel deprived. You can eat your favorite foods, but the belief behind Sensa is that over time, you'll be able to learn portion control and not overeat. The tastants help you on the way to this.

You won't have to take pills, caffeine-containing appetite suppressants or buy meals with Sensa. The makers of this system say that you can even use Sensa in conjunction with other diet plans.

Sensa comes in small containers that you use at home, but are portable enough to take with you. When you dine at a restaurant, a party or other event, you'll have your Sensa on hand to keep portions in check. Contained in each package are two flavors of tastants: salty and sweet. You sprinkle the salty side on foods that you would normally use salt on and sprinkle the sugary side on foods you would normally sweeten. Foods you might sprinkle the salty tastants on include:

  • Popcorn
  • Eggs
  • Pasta
  • Corn
  • Pretzels

Food you might want to sprinkle with the sweet tastants include:

  • Oatmeal
  • Ceareal
  • Ice cream
  • Fruit
  • Pancakes

The tastants do not actually taste salty or sweet, however. These descriptions are more for letting you know which foods you should use them on.

You receive different tastants for each month. This is to prevent your body from becoming accustomed to the same thing and rendering it less effective over time.

The Sensa Site

There are many frequently asked questions not covered here that you can find answers to at the Sensa Web site. It's worth doing your research and reading through the full FAQ section to make sure this is a system you think will work for you.

Other Opinions

Among opposition to the Sensa weight loss plan are people who consider it to be just another fad diet. Many people who overeat do it for emotional reasons that have nothing to do with taste and smell. Also, this system tells you that you can still eat what you want – you'll just want to eat less of it. According to the opposition, a better approach is to incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet while cutting back on fried and fatty foods. Also, exercise is a big component of successful, long term weight loss. The price of Sensa is another factor as it can be quite pricey (approximately $60 per month). Some people may feel better served using that money on fruits and vegetables as part of an overall healthy eating plan.

Do the Research

As with any weight loss program, Sensa will work for some, but not for others. If you feel this is the system for you, be sure to do your homework and ask questions before you make the investment..

Hi Jose,

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your success with us. It's always good to hear from someone who's been there and can tell it how it is.

I have tried the Sensa thing and it works for me. I hit a plateau and was stuck with about 25 pounds left when I tried Sensa about 4 months ago. I lost 14 more of the 25 pounds.

I got alot of information off a review on Sensasolution .com

I like to exercise but I think Sensa would work anyway. I give it a good review.
