How Serious and Widespread Is The Recall?
According to the USDA this is a class 1 recall, which is the most threatening class of recalls. A class 1 recall stipulates that the health threat is so serious that there is a reasonable probability that someone will suffer an injury or die. In fact, the problem with the Lean Cuisine meals was only discovered after one person reported an injury from almost choking on one of the small blue plastic pieces. Several other consumers called in to complain that they too found the small bright, blue plastic pieces in their meals.
As to how widespread this recall is; in short it's very widespread. Lean Cuisine meals are shipped to every state in the nation and sit in the freezer aisles of hundreds of thousands of grocers. The company estimates that roughly 1.2 million meals or 900,000 pounds of product have been recalled.
This recall is very serious and you should heed all the warnings and return any Lean Cuisines that meet the specifications for the recall and get your refund. This recall also has many patrons questioning just how good Lean Cuisines are for you, especially since the company claims to produce a health food.
