Juice Recipes for Weight Loss
From LoveToKnow Diet
Losing weight is no easy task and for some a juice fast is a way to detox the body of harmful toxins in order to reset your physiology in order to make weight loss and an all around healthier lifestyle possible. However finding great tasting juice recipes for weight loss can sometimes be a bland subject.
The Benefits of Juice Fasting and Juice Diets
This is a fast food world we live in. People are on the go and cooking at home seems more like a chore than a pleasure. As a result weight gain becomes a disease, and we pack on the pounds every time we stop at the nearest fast food chain for “a quick bite” of a “little something”. That little something is a big killer. A small hamburger from one of those fast food chains can net you over 1200 calories! You can rationalize that the meat is protein but what it’s cooked in and how it’s preserved are also factors.
Juice diets are popular and healthy way to lose weight because you gain nearly all of the nutrients your body requires in one little glass. To follow a juice diet, you need to swear off all the garbage you normally put into your system, and replace it with juice diet recipes that concentrate on vegetables and fruits low in carbohydrates and simple sugars. When you make this change, several things will occur during the juice diet or fast:
- An over all increase in energy
- Clearer skin
- Your body will be begin to be flushed of unnatural toxins
- Your digestive system will start to heal itself and get back on track
- Complete and total life overhaul
A typical fast will reset the body and start the process of eliminating toxins is 7 days. Juice fasts can last for as long as 30 days but should only be done under the supervision of a doctor.
The Juice Effect
There are several reasons that make a juice diet beneficial for an individual as a weight loss tool. Fruits and vegetables low in carbs are loaded with essential vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that are easily digested, transformed to energy and the excess removed as waste instead of being stored in fat cells like foods high in carbohydrates and simple sugars. They’re low in calories, low in fat and cholesterol and can ease diet hunger pains.
When designing your own juice diet, keep in mind that certain kinds of juices do certain things for your body. If you're looking for specifics, Dr. Norman Walker's book Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices: What's Missing in Your Body? offers a complete guide to the therapeutic use of fresh, raw juices. With his juice recipes and others, there are several things you can do to ensure a great dieting experience. Keep these tips in mind when you embark on your juice diet journey:
- Use juice as you would Slim Fast and drink two large glasses of juice in place of breakfast and lunch followed by a well-balanced meal for dinner
- Do all of your juicing in the morning because as the day progresses you get busier and as a result you may get too tired to juice later on
- Make more than you need and store it in airtight containers – juices can also be frozen
- Juices containing parsley or carrot can help curb your appetite and lessen your cravings as well as help maintain proper blood sugar levels
- Watermelon and cucumber juices are natural diuretics and can help reduce water retention in your tissues
- The skin of certain fruits and vegetables are loaded with nutrients as are seeds
- Protein powder is your friend and promotes weight loss and a feeling of being full

There are many juicers and juice extractors on the market that are very good and are typically recommended over the normal household blender because they can juice things normal blenders have trouble with such as seeds and tough skins. Jack LaLane is probably the biggest advocate for juicing and his results cannot be refuted.
When juicing it is best to buy organic produce because much of what you buy otherwise is tainted with pesticides. And for those who are concerned about not getting enough protein while on a juice diet, protein powder can be added to any juice recipes for weight loss without causing any flavor issues.
