Food Combinations to Burn Fat
From LoveToKnow Diet
People who fail to lose weight on a typical diet often turn to food combinations to burn fat.
Dieting Issues
One of the most common New Year's resolutions is to lose weight. Saying it is easy, but actually finding success in the weight loss department is often much more difficult. The caveats of dieting include phrases such as "watch portion sizes," "monitor calorie intake," "eat low-fat foods," and "increase exercise." While following these instructions actually can lead to weight loss, many dieters have a difficult time sticking to this dieting advice. Eating less calories and low-fat foods can leave you feeling hungry, grumpy, and unsatisfied. It can take a while to see any significant results, and before any of those results are evident, frustration often sabotages the whole dieting experience. Some turn to fad diets or dieting pills out of desperation, but these are only quick fixes and often unhealthy as well. There is an alternative, however.
Understanding Food Combinations to Burn Fat
Your body actually has the capability to burn fat if you eat the right type of foods. While most diets depend on a reduction of calories, you can actually eat throughout the day and lose weight by choosing food combinations to burn fat. Instead of focusing on cutting calories, you'll focus on combining foods and eating these combinations at specific times throughout the day. Food combining takes into account that foods are digested differently if eaten together or separate.
For example, foods that are high in starch need a more alkaline digestive environment. On the other hand, foods that are high in protein require a more acidic digestive environment. For this reason, the food combination premise focuses on the fact that you shouldn't eat proteins with starchy foods, and doing so can cause all sorts of digest problems, like constipation and diarrhea. In combining the proper foods, however, you can trigger your body's metabolism to increase.
Food Combination Rules
The following rules generally apply to food combinations to burn fat.
- Don't combine starchy and acidic foods in the same meal.
- Don't combine protein and high-carb foods in the same meal.
- Don't combine protein and fats in the same meal.
- Don't combine protein and sugars in the same meal.
- Don't combine sugars and starches in the same meal.
- Eat only one type of protein at a time.
- Eat melons alone.
- Eat several small meals throughout the day instead of three larger ones.
- While you can certainly lose weight more easily if you forgo a sugary dessert of any kind, if you do eat dessert, wait a couple of hours after your meal before eating to ease digestion.
Foods to Combine
With all these "do's" and "don'ts" to follow, you may feel limited in what foods you can combine to lose weight. Keep in mind, however, that you can still have a wide variety of delicious foods that will work together to burn fat. For example, if you eat a protein-rich food, like chicken, then combine it with a non-starchy vegetable or vegetables, like spinach or broccoli but lay off the potatoes or rice. If, however, you want to eat a baked potato, then combine it with a healthy salad, but don't add fish or chicken.
Just as diets can be very limiting, you may also tend to buy and eat the same foods over and over again, risking boredom and eventually failure. To find success through the combining of healthy foods, you need to create a list of foods that you love to eat, and this list should be quite varied. To ensure success, make a list of foods that you love and that are good for you. This list should include protein, healthy fats, and good carbs. Examples of these foods include the following:
- Proteins
- Chicken
- Turkey
- Fish
- Egg whites
- Good Carbs
- Oatmeal
- Brown rice
- Potatoes
- Beans
- Whole grain cereals and breads
- Good Fats-
- Nuts and seeds
- Olive, sunflower, and flax oils
Finally, balance out your meals with a wide variety of vegetables and fruits to give your body all the nutrients it needs..
