Cookie Diet
From LoveToKnow Diet
For those with a sweet tooth, a cookie diet sounds too good to be true, but physician, author, and weight loss expert Sanford Siegal's hunger controlling plan includes cookies and other products to keep dieters satisfied without using drugs to curb their appetite.
Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet
Back in the 1970's, Dr. Siegal envisioned his cookie-based diet as an answer for patients he saw who suffered from hunger while dieting. He went to work to create a food product that his patients could use to satisfy their hunger while still adhering to a reduced-calorie diet.
Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet products are made from an undisclosed blend of amino acid food proteins that work to suppress hunger. In those early days he commandeered the kitchen, made these products with his own hands and tested them on family and friends. To this day Dr. Siegal mixes each batch of his secret protein formula himself by hand in his bakery.
Meal Replacement Diet Cookies
The meal-replacement cookies that Dr. Siegal created work to curb the appetite without drugs and help dieters to stay on their doctor-supervised diet. Since 1975, more that 500,000 people have used his Cookie Diet foods to reach their weight loss goals. They work because they're not only convenient, but their ability to successfully curtail hunger makes them a sensible, healthy alternative to other snacks.
Before your mouth starts watering, it's only fair to say that compared to the standard cookie on the shelf at your local grocer, these cookies aren't what you call delicious. But think about it—those delicious, high-sugar laden cookies are one of the reasons people need to lose weight. Dr. Siegal drew on his knowledge of chemistry and his love of cooking to find the answer. Through the process of trial and error, he found that the combination of certain food proteins produced a remarkable hunger control per calorie. This discovery led to his famous cookies.
Other Hunger Control Products
Dr. Siegal has also invented two more products designed to control hunger:
- Diet shakes
- Diet soup
Smart for Life Program
While Dr. Siegal is officially known for the Cookie Diet, it's still worth mentioning Smart for Life Weight Management Centers because they also provide "Smart Cookie squares" as part their program in an effort to retrain dieters minds to think differently while programming the body to be satisfied by eating small meals throughout the day. When the Smart Life company started to research products to enhance its Smart Food product line, they focused on specific ingredients offering cholesterol-lowering effects. So eating these cookies not only teaches clients to eat multiple meals each day but also has been shown to improve cholesterol and cardiac risk factors.
This program is also conducted under the supervision of a doctor. Once clients are checked out by a doctor, the information gathered aids in determining if the they has a metabolic or hormonal condition which has hindered weight loss efforts in the past.
The Smart for Life Program's favorite meal-replacing product are their Smart Cookie squares. These are created from whole grain with a nutritional protein balance scientifically designed to make you feel full and come in six flavors:
- Chocolate
- Pina Colada
- Boca Banana
- Maine Blueberry
- Cinnamon Oatmeal Raisin
- Garden Pizza
Other Smart for Life Products
Along with their Smart Cookie Squares, Smart for Life's other products promise flavor designed to keep dieters satisfied and healthy:

These foods have been around since 1975, if they were really nasty I don't think they would be successful.
