The way I look at it, a year has 365 days, so eating treats on a few of those days -this year, 3 days - really can’t ruin the rest of the effort I put into 362 days worth of eating right and exercising. It’s taking small steps every day that counts. I realized that my ‘treats’ starting December 24th had continued until December 27th, so I got right back onto my food plan yesterday. Part of the battle was making sure my house was stocked with healthy choices I liked - and not just cookies! - so after a trip to the store yesterday, I can say I’m back on the food plan. I think having good stuff around and making sure that the holidays don’t last all year helps a lot. |

i saw something on one of those celeb fitness shows that has helped me out or put it into perspective atleast…i designate one day to indulge in all the good holiday foods, then i eat and workout healthy the rest of the week…repeat it the same week…while i would love to say that its the holidays so who cares, it will really hurt me in the long run =( |

I think everything is fine once in a while or in moderation. For instance, this is the only time of year I bake red velvet cake—it’s my family’s holiday tradition. Since this is the only time of year I bake it, it’s the only time of year I eat it. I eat a small slice about every other day, but make sure to get my exercise in, too. I wasn’t trying to lose weight leading up to Christmas, just maintain. |

i agree with the moderation technique…i tried that eat one day, healthy the nxt couple and it worked for me in the past…strayed away from it a little this year lol…but i do believe you can learn alot from those fitness shows on tv…some of them work…doesn’t help that im addicted to them as well…looking forward to watching diettribe on liftime…seems like it will be intense with jessie pavelka leading the way : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv3OqEhpQls ...that national body challenge on teh discovery channel looks good as well…anyone else interested in these? |

I’ve thought more about this. Now I think that I am going to focus my attention away from the food and onto the holiday itself. There’s so much more fun than food going on. I mean, Halloween - scary movies, right? Fun to watch the children trick or treat, and things like that. Thanksgiving - well, I enjoy the Macy’s parade on television, the old movies, time with family. And Christmas - lots there too! So maybe we should start a little group, make a pact to focus on FUN not FOOD at the Holidays? |
