I prefer using the tape measure to measure my progress. When I drop dress sizes and I feel great, I don’t care about the scale. |

I’m so totally annoyed with losing weight now. I dropped 10 pounds the first two months of my diet/exercise program, then gained five back as soon as I stopped obsessing about everything I ate. Now the scale won’t budge regardless of what I do. |

Dana, That’s the problem with dietary changes, they have to be changes in habits and not short-term, but long-term. You may try going for a totally different approach. I try to change up what I am doing every 12 weeks because your body is incredibly adaptable. |

Dana, I’m in the same spot. I have to admit that I’ve cheated here and there…but the exercise is taking off inches, if not weight…I keep fighting the same five pounds…lose it…gain it back…lose it gain it back…a lot of it for me I know is salty food choices… |

Just an update…down 19 pounds since January…not a good as I had hoped but the biggest change is clothing size! Ha! My kids think I’m nuts when they look in my closet. Have clothing sorted by size (12-18) and I just moved to the size 12 section of the closet! I don’t have to buy anything new to fit my size…although it would be nice to get to a size 10…then shopping!! I was having trouble with bloating with some foods I ate and I thought it was sodium. Come to find out there is an IF (inflammation factor) in foods. So, after some testing it appears that I don’t have a problem with sodium at all but a problem with foods that are known to cause inflammation. There is a great book that I’ve been using for reference, “The Inflammation Free Diet Plan” by Monica Reinagel. I haven’t tried any of the recipes in it. I mostly use it for the list of foods and their rating as far as causing inflammation which appears to have helped in the fitting into the next size down category. I also started taking Krill Oil pills which I also think is helping. Helps to balance your Omega’s. Exercise…still working on that and haven’t been getting much lately but plan to make that a higher priority. |

Congratulations on the 19 pounds. That is great. It sounds like you have good goals and you are right on track. I agree that exercise is so important. I have lost 7 lbs. over the summer due to watching what I eat and walking three miles 4-5 times per week. My ankle has been bothering me lately, so the walking has come to a stand still. I am goind to see if walking with a brace will make a difference. I don’t want to stop as I like the weight I am at right now. Good luck with your continued success. You might want to pop over to the 21 Day Challenge September. It is a great site to help us all stay motivated. Christine [ Edited: 03 September 2009 10:59 AM by Christine]
