6 tips to ordering Chinese
13. If it’s on the menu, order simple grilled beef, veal, pork, chicken, fish, or shellfish.
14. For dessert, ask for fresh berries or fruit ice, if it’s available, or a small plate of cookies to share.

6 tips to ordering Mexican
23. Order a la carte.
24. Take advantage of the salads but watch for fried chicken and fatty dressings.

Chew Gum
Volunteers who chewed gum for 15 minutes each hour between lunch and a snack consumed 60 fewer calories from sweets than when they went gum-free.

Vegetable Juice
Here’s a surprising way to supercharge any diet—and your health: Chug a glass of low-sodium vegetable juice every day. In a study of 81 overweight adults at risk for heart disease and diabetes, those who drank at least a cup of low-sodium V8 daily lost four pounds over 12 weeks, while those on the same reduced-fat diet who drank no juice lost one pound.

Drop Sugary Drinks
Calories from solid foods and liquids both add up, of course. But in a recent multicenter study, the only menu change that had a significant payoff for dieters was cutting back on sugary beverages, says lead author Benjamin Caballero, MD. Reducing intake by just one serving a day took a pound off after six months, enough to add up for people with a soda or fruit-drink habit.

Green Tea
Overweight or obese exercisers burned off three more pounds and 7 percent more belly fat when they drank green tea instead of another beverage with the same calories, according to a new multicenter study.

More Sleep
A study of 32 summer students at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas over three weeks showed that those who slept an extra two hours ate nearly 300 calories less.

Mushrooms
When ground beef was swapped out for mushrooms in lasagna, sloppy joes, and chili, adults consumed 400 fewer calories per day, according to a Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health study. Researchers estimate that if you sub mushrooms for ground meat in one meal every week, you can lose five pounds in a year.

Simple ‘Till Six
That’s what author Mark Bittman named his diet plan of eating in a mostly vegan fashion during the day—no animal products and no simple carbs—and then eating a reasonable dinner. His focus on consuming plants “as close to their natural state as possible” will lead to a natural reduction in calories.

Cheers!

How to Control Overeating

If you want to know how to control overeating, you’ve come to the right article and not a moment too soon. Overeating can be quite terrible. It doesn’t just ruin any diet you’re on and causes you to gain weight, it also destroys your self esteem and can be quite risky to your health.

So, learning how to control overeating is something that has to be done for the sake of your physical and emotional health, not just your looks. Here are some tips:

1. Get rid of the things you usually overeat on or at least cut them down - Clean out your kitchen from the food which you usually eat too much of. Making it a bit more difficult for you to overeat won’t solve the root cause of the problem but it will make it harder for you to eat big piles of food.

2. Try to reduce sugar in all its forms. Sugar is a food which a lot of people overeat on because it can make you feel good. However, like a drug, this good feeling lasts for a short time and can be addictive. To reduce sugar cravings, try to slowly cut down on the sugar you put in your coffee, switch to less sugary cereals, and eat less sweet stuff.

3. Overeating often happens because of some deprivation. Often, people who skip meals end up overeating to make up for it. To make sure you’re not susceptible to overeating, don’t skip meals and have a little something to eat every 2 hours or so. This will regulate your appetite.

4. To control overeating you must learn to control how your emotions are driving you to food. Having the urge to overeat is often due to emotional reasons like stress, boredom, loneliness, and frustration. You need to understand when your emotions are running high and learn to get them under your control. It’s not called emotional eating overeating for no reason.
