How Fit Are You?

Do you eat healthy? It's one thing to say you eat healthy and another to really do it. Often it takes the reality of the scale or measuring tape to open our eyes to see those few unhealthy or fattening exceptions we think we make aren't really exceptions but a way of life. Unhealthy habits lead to excess weight and even possible health conditions such as diabetes or coronary heart disease.

So how fit are you? Just as the scale and measuring tape alert us that we've made too many poor choices regarding nutrition and exercise, there are actually ways to test your fitness level, too. It's easy to fool yourself into thinking you're in pretty good shape. But I found a great resource at the Mayo Clinic that can take the guess work out of knowing how fit you are. They layout procedures to test your:

  • Aerobic fitness
  • Muscular fitness
  • Flexibility
  • Body composition

    Not only can you learn how fit you really are, but the Mayo Clinic also equips you with a way to chart your progress. A new month is just around the corner. Sounds like a great opportunity to find out how fit I really am, and to start monitoring my progress!
